A CRM MCP server needs a CRM. This one builds it.
The HubSpot, Salesforce and Attio MCP servers let an agent read and write a CRM that you set up and pay for. The CRM Builder MCP starts one step earlier: it makes the CRM from a conversation in Claude Code, claude.ai, Codex, Cursor or VS Code, and it scores the people who already engage with you.
The difference, in 1 table
| A HubSpot, Salesforce or Attio MCP server | The CRM Builder MCP | |
|---|---|---|
| What you need first | An account on the CRM, with the pipeline, the fields and the records already set up in its own interface. | An invite code and an agent. The agent makes the workspace from the conversation. |
| Who designs the CRM | You do, in the CRM. The agent then reads and writes the objects you made. | Nobody. Companies, people, signals and 15 funnel stages are built in. You describe your business, and the agent fills them. |
| What the agent writes | Records and fields, with the permissions of the user whose account it uses. | Strategy, personas, ICP groups, prospect types, contacts and content, with only the scopes you tick. A write never overwrites a filled field or deletes a record. |
| Where the engagement comes from | From what people type into the CRM, and from the integrations you set up. | From signals: a like or a comment on a tracked post, a reply, a click on a tracked link, a booked meeting. Each has points, and the stage follows the score. |
| Your current CRM | Is the system of record. The MCP is a window onto it. | Stays where it is. Import your leads from HubSpot or Attio, or from a CSV file, and keep both. |
| How the agent signs in | Varies by vendor. | A browser sign-in with OAuth, a consent page for the workspace and the scopes, and a revoke button on Settings > MCP access. |
When to use which
Use the MCP server of your CRM when the CRM is set up, your team lives in it, and you want your agent to update it. That is the right tool, and CRM Builder does not replace it.
Use CRM Builder when there is no CRM yet, or when the one you have holds contacts but not engagement. It gives you a scored list of the people who already pay attention, and your agent keeps it current.
Use both when you want to keep HubSpot or Attio as the system of record and add signals on top. CRM Builder imports your leads from either one, as a job that you confirm first. What the signals are, and their points.
